LSLC event – Recent Developments in the Law of Charterparties

Introduction
It has been an unusually busy year for practitioners dealing with charterparty disputes. Not only has 2022 seen war in Ukraine, but 2022 has also seen a high number of important decisions, spanning a wide range of legal issues. This session aims to review some of the most important developments of 2022, as chosen by three leading lawyers with a wealth of experience: Robert Bright KC of 7KBW; Cate Baddeley of Preston Turnbull LLP; and Robert Veal of Winter & Co. The event will be chaired by David Steward, president of the LMAA.

Specific issues to be discussed will include:
• War in Ukraine: safe ports warranties and other protective clauses, where are we now?
• Top cases of 2022, including The Eternal Bliss and The C Challenger.
• And others that are less well known but no less important: The Divine Gate on speed and performance and London Arbitration 10/22 on the Inter-Club Agreement.
