A Joint LSLC and SCMA Hybrid event – Sanctions and Shipping: An Evolving Landscape

Split into three parts, our speakers will address several current issues in maritime law including:
(1) The evolving sanctions regime against the Russian Federation, including issues pertinent to shipping and insurance law, as at November 2022;

(2) Current issues and concerns regarding charterparty force majeure and exception clauses, in relation to the blockage (and unblockage) of ports in Ukraine;

(3) Mur Shipping v RTI – regarding whether an obligation to pay freight in US$, which is made impossible by virtue of sanctions against the Russian Federation, can be discharged in a non-contractual currency (EUR) pursuant to an express or implied obligation to use reasonable endeavours to overcome a force majeure event. Alternatively, whether reasonable endeavours obligations do not extend to effectively varying the contractual currency provisions.

For administration purposes REGISTRATION DETAILS WILL BE SHARED WITH THE ORGANISING TEAM TO BE USED FOR THIS EVENT ONLY.
