The Lord Mustill inaugural lecture took place at the Middle Temple Hall

The Lord Mustill inaugural lecture took place at the Middle Temple Hall, London on 14th June 2018. Over 150 guests including retired and serving members of the judiciary, members of the bar and other maritime professionals heard three of England’s most distinguished legal figures – Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers KG PC, Steward Boyd CBE QC and Sir Richard Aikens – present their professional and personal recollections of the late Lord Mustill of Pateley Bridge.

Michael Mustill was one of the foremost judges of his time. His influence on maritime law, commercial law and arbitration, as advocate, judge and scholar, was outstanding. He brought great qualities to criminal, personal injury and administrative law and wrote penetrating and memorable judgments which remain influential.

He was the first President of the London Shipping Law Centre from 1995 until his death in 2015. The Centre organised the event as a fitting tribute to his exceptional contribution to jurisprudence. The current President, , Lord Clarke of Stone-cum-Ebony, was in the chair.

Copies of the presentations will be up-loaded onto this site, shortly.
