Three of England’s most distinguished legal figures – Lord Phillips, Steward Boyd QC, and Sir Richard Aikens – presented their professional and personal recollections of Michael’s life and work. They reflected on his childhood, youth, education, legal career and his exceptional contribution to jurisprudence as advocate, judge and author. They paid tribute to the unfailing and exhaustive intellectual rigour which he brought to all his work.
As one of the foremost judges of his time, his influence on maritime law, commercial law and arbitration was outstanding. He brought great qualities to all parts of the law and wrote penetrating and memorable judgments which remain influential.
